As part of the CARDIMED project, an event was held to introduce the project under the theme “Enhancing Resilience in the Southern Gediz Delta”
Building Climate Resilience in the Mediterranean for a Sustainable Future!
We came together for a more resilient future in the Mediterranean region against the challenges of climate change.
Within the framework of the EU-funded CARDIMED project, we successfully hosted the project launch, exhibition, and panel discussion themed “Enhancing Resilience in the Southern Gediz Delta” at Izmir Institute of Technology (IZTECH).
During the event, critical strategic insights were shared focused on increasing the ecological and urban resilience of the Gediz Delta through nature-based solutions (NBS) and sustainable water management approaches. These innovative solutions, developed to combat the local and regional impacts of the climate crisis, were discussed in detail during a panel featuring esteemed academics, local government representatives, and NGO members.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Rector of IZTECH, Prof. Dr. Yusuf Baran, for his unwavering support throughout every stage of this visionary project. We also extend our sincere thanks to our project partners—Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, İZSU, İZDOĞA, and Doğa Derneği (Nature Association)—for their invaluable contributions in bringing this process to life.
